Ilgiz Kambarov
Executive Director of Green Alliance KG
Ilgiz Kambarov has a solid work experience at national and international levels in international organizations and private companies. He is a participant and manager of research and projects related to the green economy in Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia and has extensive national and international experience in international organizations and private companies.
He holds extensive experience in election analysis and monitoring, project management, project monitoring and implementation, international trade, academic management and teaching. For several years, he worked at the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek, was a member of the International Election Observation Mission to the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE) in Kyrgyzstan in 2005, 2017, 2020 and 2021. In addition, as an international consultant, he served as a long-term observer for the ODIHR (OSCE) election observation missions for local elections in Albania and for the 2019 and 2021 extraordinary parliamentary elections in Bulgaria, respectively.
He has participated and conducted research related to green economy as a national consultant for the UN Development Program and has skills in managing various projects. Ilgiz also teaches at the Kyrgyz Economic University. He successfully completed the training “Climate Change and Conflict” organized and financed by the OSCE Academy in Bishkek and CRISP (whose main areas of work are civic education and civic conflict management).
Kambarov Ilgiz is a member of the Steering Committee of the project “Support to Local Community Development of Green Agriculture” – “Go Green”, which is funded by the European Union. The main mission of the “Go Green” project is climate change mitigation and sustainable use of natural resources through the introduction and application of green technologies and innovations in the collection and use of genetic resources, medicinal and useful plants. He is also a country coordinator in the Regional Climate Network of the Central Asian Civil Society, which is a union of national climate and environmental networks of all Central Asian countries, created for free exchange of information, dialogue and discussions on environmental and climate policy and development of climate action of the public in the region.
On behalf of the Green Alliance of Kyrgyzstan, he is the manager of a project aimed at promoting and implementing a voluntary eco-certification scheme among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Kyrgyzstan under the project to promote energy and resource efficiency in the Kyrgyz tourism industry (PERETO).
Ilgiz Kambarov is a graduate of the American University of Central Asia with a degree in International and Comparative Politics. Received a master’s degree in management from the University of Economics and Entrepreneurship. In addition to his native Kyrgyz, he speaks English, Russian, Turkish, and French.
