Ilgiz Kambarov

Ilgiz Kambarov has solid national and international experience working for international organizations and private companies.

For several years he worked at the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek, and was a member of the international election observation mission with the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) in Kyrgyzstan in 2005, 2017, 2020, and 2021.

In addition, he worked as a long-term observer for the ODIHR (OSCE) election observation missions for the local elections in Albania and early parliamentary elections in Bulgaria in 2019 and 2021 respectively.

He has extensive experience in analysis and monitoring of elections, project management, monitoring and implementation of projects, international trade, academic management, and teaching.

He has participated in and conducted research affiliated with the green economy as National Consultant to Unied Nations Development Programme, and has the skills to manage various projects. Ilgiz also teaches at the Kyrgyz Economic University, and successfuly completed the training on Climate Change and Conflict organized and funded by OSCE Academy in Bishkek and CRISP.

Mr. Kambarov is the member of Project Coordination Council called “Support to Development of the Green Agriculture by Local Communities” – “Go Green” which is funded by European Union. The the main mission of Go Green is to mitigate climate change and sustainable use of natural resources through the introduction and application of green technologies and innovations in the collection and use of genetic resources, medicinal and useful plants. He is also the country coordinator of the Regional Climate Network of the Central Asian Civil Society, which is an association of national climate and environmental networks of all Central Asian countries, created for free exchange of information, dialogue and discussion of environmental and climate policy and development of climate action by the public in the region.

He is concerned about environmental issues occurring in Kyrgyzstan and globally, such as air pollution, waste management, green agriculture, and green finance among others. He seeks to contribute positively to promoting a green economy, green behavior, and sustainable development in Kyrgyzstan.

Ilgiz Kambarov is a graduate of the American University of Central Asia with a degree in International and Comparative Politics. Received a master’s degree in management from the University of Economics and Entrepreneurship. In addition to his native Kyrgyz, he speaks English, Russian, Turkish, and French. He ocasionally contributes the relevant articles to The Diplomat –  an international online news magazine covering politics, society, and culture in the Indo-Pacific region.
