Ilgiz Kambarov 

 

Executive Director of Green Alliance KG

Ilgiz Kambarov has a solid work experience at national and international levels in international organizations and private companies. He is a participant and manager of research and projects related to the green economy in Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia.

He holds extensive experience in election analysis and monitoring, project management, project monitoring and implementation, international trade, academic management and teaching. For several years, he worked at the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek, was a member of the International Election Observation Mission to the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE) in Kyrgyzstan in 2005, 2017, 2020 and 2021. In addition, as an international consultant, he served as a long-term observer for the ODIHR (OSCE) election observation missions for local elections in Albania and for snap parliamentary elections in Bulgaria, in 2019 and 2021 respectively. He worked at UK Embassy in Kyrgyzstan (2017-2018). As the director of a language school, BSC Kyrgyzstan, he was at the forefront of opening the first franchise of an international British language school group in the country. He was also at the forefront of introducing the first official international language test center IELTS in Kyrgyzstan.

As a national consultant to the United Nations Development Program, he has conducted research related to the green economy and has skills in managing research projects. Ilgiz also teaches at the Kyrgyz Economic University. He successfully completed the training “Climate Change and Conflict” at the OSCE Academy in Bishkek.

Kambarov Ilgiz is the country coordinator in the Regional Climate Network of the Civil Society of Central Asia, an association of national climate and environmental networks of all Central Asian countries, created for the free exchange of information, dialogue and discussion, issues of environmental and climate policy and the development of climate action of the public in the region.

He is also a member of the supervisory board of the Rural Development Fund, a leading organization for conducting social research, assisting in the formation of public policy and implementing projects in the field of rural development. In addition, he was a member of the coordinating council of the project “Support for the development of green agriculture by local communities” – “Go Green”, funded by the European Union, whose main mission is to mitigate the effects of climate change and sustainable use of natural resources through the introduction and application of green technologies and innovations in the field collection and use of genetic resources, medicinal and useful plants.

On behalf of the Green Alliance KG, he is a co-manager of a project to promote and implement a voluntary eco-certification scheme among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Kyrgyzstan as part of the project to promote energy and resource efficiency in the tourism sector of Kyrgyzstan (PERETO). He is also a member of the interdepartmental working group for the development of the draft National Action Plan in the field of business and human rights under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic.

He is concerned about environmental issues arising in Kyrgyzstan and around the world, such as air pollution, waste management, green agriculture, green finance, climate change, environmental protection and others. He strives to make a positive contribution to the promotion of green economy and sustainable development in Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia.

Ilgiz Kambarov is a graduate of American University of Central Asia with BA degree in International and Comparative Politics, and has a master’s degree in management from the University of Economics and Entrepreneurship. In addition to his native Kyrgyz, he speaks English, Russian, Turkish, and French.
